The sound quality is nice, they handle bass without breaking a sweat, and lighter notes as well. There's silence where silence is to be expected; if there's hissing present in what you're listening to, you'll hear that as well.
I have adjusted to this by switching the headphones around so the volume control is on the side away from where I typically lie down. Second, I thought how nice it would be if the headset had a line out so I could choose to connect a speaker at a remote location if I wanted not to be wearing the headset.
So I bought these because the RF headset that I normally use was starting to break down physically. I had used it for years with no real problem. The only thing I did not like so much about this product is that when you use it for a long period of time, around 30-45 minutes, your ears sweat and get desperate warm. Ordered 2 and received very timely. I had some reservations on these after reading some of the reviews saying that they are small or snug, because I have a ginormous head. My hat size is about 8 1/8, and I'm 6'8 so I'm just a large person in general. I purchased these wireless headphones for quiet listening late at night so I would not disturb other people. I have used the wired Sennheiser HD 414 headphones for the last 20+ years and have had zero problems with them.
With a bit more smarts, the headphones could be made to standby in a low power mode, then ramp up when it detected a signal from the transmitter. Maybe that's too much to ask for the price. No interference issues with my home wireless (operates on 2.4-2.8 GHz auto selecting). They have excellent bass response that will actually tickle your ears, depending on what you are listening to of course. These are open phones and provide absolutely no isolation from ambient noise. If you want sound isolation, consider the Sennheiser RS 170 closed wireless phones; also sold on Amazon.
I bought and returned two other pairs of wireless headphones in the sub-$200 price range before springing for these, and simply put they are worth the extra money. There's no interference, the sound quality is excellent throughout the range and the hiss that plagues most other wireless headphones doesn't exist. They were expensive but I use them for so much now that they were worth the money I spent, for sure. And they are so easy to store and charge on the base- they are always ready to use. Another flaw - ALC button (to boost speech range)is located on transmitter only, so you have to walk to it to turn it on if you have a hard time hearing dialogs in movies. This is why I gave it 3 out of 5 for ease of use.
After it dried in about an hour, it left those buttons with a raised "bump" that my fingers can easily find. The on/off/standby button is between the volume buttons, so it is now easy to find with my fingers also. I wanted wireless headphones with good battery life, sound quality, and comfort. I use these headphones for music, movies, and gaming. My ears also hurt after a short time due to the foam ear pads. After more research I decided to give the RS180 a try.
