Fine For The Price - Noise Cancelling Headphones Review Review

By Nathan Taylor

I have watched action movies, played the latest CoD Black Ops and many other games and listen to a wide variety of music and have really found no weak spot as far as sound depth. They exceed any wired headphones I have used for any of the same activities. SACD were demoed both as 2-channel & Multi-channel. The initial impression with the RS 180's is their extreme musicality. They look great. They are a sleek charcoal/black and the charging cradle looks very cool and saves a little bit of desk space instead of having to lay down a giant pair of headphones like I used to. Every time you take the earphones from the charging cradle you have to synch the earphones to the cradle. This is an annoyance.

My house is kind of small, but it's on two levels and there is nowhere I go in my house that I don't receive a clear signal. Sound is very good and bass response is quite acceptable for this type of open headphone. This makes it impossible for me to use them in this way. Since I have hearing issues and is why I buy earphones, I really can't use them for one purpose that is very important to me. Your mileage may differ. The base-station cradle unit is relatively compact and hides behind my wide-screen LCD display, out of sight. It is easy to use these cans for long periods of time as the ear pieces are comfortable & compliant. I had forgotten just how good (& well produced) these guys were.

My ears also hurt after a short time due to the foam ear pads. After more research I decided to give the RS180 a try. Overall I am happy with the headphones performance. All of these are minor since I wanted quality, comfortable headphones. After breaking them in for a couple of days, they fit my head like a large comfortable head glove. I've worn them already for hours on end with very little ear fatigue.

They play fine all throughout the day so they are full charged each morning. When you take the headphones off, you must press the ON button on the base unit, and then press the power button on the headphones before they will work.

Also the RS180's fit on her head better than the RS120s which were always loose (and would fall off when she looked down quickly). In my opinion The RS180s are worth the extra $.

I couldn't be happier with these headphones. Zero background noise.
